About the Proposed BID

The East 80s Yorkville Alliance BID Formation Effort was created by a Steering Committee made up of a broad spectrum of local residents, commercial property owners, and members of other local partnerships, including Carnegie Hill Neighbors and the East 86th Street Association, with additional participation and support from the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS).

The Steering Committee’s goal is to create a Business Improvement District (BID) which would provide additional sanitation, safety, and horticultural services to the district, as well as create a marketing and social media arm that would help to promote and support the retail and other business merchants within the district. The BID’s proposed boundaries can be seen in the map.

Where we are with the BID

Throughout 2024, the Steering Committee conducted SBS-mandated Needs Assessment Surveys, both residential and commercial, garnering feedback from hundreds of residents as well as from many of the retail businesses within the district. These surveys were a key factor in determining the scope of services the BID will provide, as well as determining the operating budget of the BID–which in turn created the “contribution formula” that the BID proposes to evenly assess on all eligible property owners within the district.

Currently, the BID is in the “Balloting Phase” of BID formation, shown on the roadmap.
